New Resources in the Works: We Need Your Help

We’re starting out the new year by writing a couple of new free resources for our training section.  To make them the best they can be, we’re asking for your help.

First, we’re taking a look at Facebook best practices.  Do you know a church that’s doing it well?  Who stand outs in the Facebook world to you?   (Don’t be bashful, if you or your church are doing a good job, share that with us, too.)

Second, we’re still finishing up a case study on Clover websites.  If you’re using Clover, we’d love to hear what you have to say, good or bad.

If you can help out with either of these topics, feel free to leave a comment or email us by clicking here.  You never know, we may end up using your experiences in these resources.  Actually, there’s a pretty good chance.  Great chances, really.  Way better than Vegas odds.

Lastly, if there are any topics you think would make a good resource, share that with us, too.  Maybe it’s something you’re currently struggling with or just an area you wish you knew more about.

Thanks in advance for your help!

I think we do a pretty good job on facebook.com/westgatechurch
We have a steady stream of comments and interactions with our congregation.

That is a lot of interaction.  Nice work.  What do you find works best to get people involved on your FB page?

We have about 5500 ‘Likes’ and quite a bit of interaction at facebook.com/woodlandschurch

We ask questions that allows our congregation to feel like they have a say in how things are done. One of our best random questions was we were thinking of switching coffee, so we asked Starbucks, Peets, or foldgers? who would have guessed Foldgers would have won that.

We also ask for interaction from a service stand point. Not that long ago we gave a prize to the person that could find certain words durning a service and post a photo of those words on our FB page.

The other thing we try and do is tag people in posts. So if we are giving an office quote of the day we tage the person that said it.

We also have asked hard questions that churches don’t usually ask on FB like; ” if you could ask WestGate anything what would it be?” With that one we opened ourselves up to some heavy at times dialog but the great thing was that it was other users answering other users questions.

Then about once a week or at least every other week we have a day were we just ask whats on peoples hearts or how we can be praying for them.

We try never to overload people with posting 3+ times a day. Even two posts a day we are weary of.

The other key we do is we try to never allow a post to go unanswered in more than 2-3 hours. Even that I would prefer if it was an hour. And I wish somehow FB allowed the admins to get an alert that they have a new post on their wall. But for now two of us try and do a good job of checking it hourly, if possible (when we are awake).

okay those are the best practice methods we have found that have worked for our congregation.
