Tips for Logo Design
Posted January 25th 2010 @ 4:19 am by JerodStock photography giant iStock is getting into the logo business. (Yes it’s okay to boo and throw things at your computer. I use iStock images, but logos shouldn’t be a stock item. It’s a visual representation of your brand. If you think of your brand as your organization’s personality, do you want it to be generic or unique?)
Anyway...the goal of this post isn’t to have a major rant about generic logos. iStock has put together a nice article called "Six Things to Keep in Mind When Designing a Logo." It takes a look at things like reproducibility, color palate, typography and simplicity. The article is a great reference as long as you ignore the parts about creating mass produced logos. (Oops, that last little bit slipped.)

There are many companies that do logo design. Trace Communications is one company that can assist your efforts. I think that it is important to keep logos simple. People don’t take the time to look too long. They just want clean and simple. What do you guys think?
