I wonder if the login should be redone. It says: Email and Password. However, when I used my Email address to log in, it didn’t work. Finally I just used my username and got in. If that is the case, I think the login box should read “Username” instead of “Email.”

Hi,
I’ve been looking at many church websites, but the good ones seem to be for large churches. Are there any small churches that have good websites? I don’t want ours to look like a megachurch, but I want it to be way better than it is. sdcrc.org Any suggestions?

Hello - I’m new to the forum (fabulous site, btw). I am the publications/communication coordinator at a sizable Presbyterian (USA) church. I put a monthly paper newsletter and a weekly e-newsletter. We are considering a move to a bi-weekly e-newsletter and bi-monthly paper newsletter, in addition to the weekly e-communication I already send. We need to decide what content is best for what method. I am thinking a bi-weekly e-newsletter would have timely event-oriented news and the paper bi-monthly pub would have longer articles better suited for print and photos. Part of the reason for the move is to save - printing is costly and it occurs to us that people really aren’t reading it. The other is timeliness - by the time the newsletter deadline comes and goes and I put it together and it goes to print/mail, some of the material is outdated by the time folks receive it. Do most of you do both a monthly paper and weekly/bi-weekly e-newsletter? What is the difference in the content? Any insights? We do have a Web site which we are considering redesigning and we are also discussing Web content/purpose. Any suggestions would be most welcome. Thank you!

The nature of being in the church communications world is sort of like being in the middle of of a busy intersection. One street is full of traffic being critical of your work and the other is you having a critical eye for everything happening around your church.

So I’m wondering, what do you do to make sure all of this doesn’t end up causing you to crash and burn-out? How can you stay positive in worship when you get frustrated with your church? How do you keep your faith strong?

Every week at my church, I’m asked to fill out a connections card. It’s basically taking attendance. I fill out my name and address then drop it in the offering plate. There’s a place for prayer requests or boxes I can check to involved with various ministry groups. Overall, it’s not my favorite thing to do, but I understand the church wanting to keep track of who’s there especially first time visitors.

What does your church do? Do you fill something out every week? Do you think these cards are useful?
